Monarchs Host LIU Monday Night

NORFOLK,VA-- The ODU Monarchs return to action Monday night when they host the Blackbirds of Long Island University at 7 p.m. in the Ted Constant Convocation Center.

The Blaine Taylor coaches show will be Tuesday, Nov. 15th at 6 p.m. with host Ted Alexander at YNOT Pizza on 1517 Colley Avnue.

ABOUT LIU The Blackbirds return three starters and 10 letterwinners from last year's 27-6 team that won the Northeast Conference crown and advanced to the NCAA tournament. They are led by Julian Boyd, A first team All-Northeaster Conference selection who ranked second in the league in rebounding at 9.0 per game and had 12 double-doubles. Also returning is the NEC's Tournament MVP, Jamal Olasewere who averaged 21.7 points and 11.7 rebounds in the NEC tournament.

LIU Head Coach Jim Fetty is in his 10th season with a 229-160 record.

THE SERIES ODU LEADS, 4-3. The two teams have not played each other since 1990-91 when the Monarchs won, 88-62 in Norfolk Scope.
