RICHMOND, VA (April 18, 2002) - Old Dominion men's tennis team member sophomore Zoltan Csanadi was one of five Monarchs to be named to the 2002 All-CAA team. Csanadi picked up first team honors.

Virginia Commonwealth senior Florian Marquardt (Saulheim, Germany) has been selected as the 2002 Colonial Athletic Association men's tennis Player of the Year in a vote of the league's head coaches.

Others receiving top honors from the conference include William and Mary's Sean Kelleher (Forty Fort, PA) and Virginia Commonwealth's Marton Ott (Budapest, Hungary) as CAA Co-Rookies of the Year, and Virginia Commonwealth's Paul Kostin as CAA Coach of the Year.

Marquardt is ranked 48th nationally in singles and 12th nationally in doubles in the latest Omni Hotel Collegiate Tennis Rankings released by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. He has an overall singles record of 16-7 and a dual match mark of 10-4 while alternating at the number one and two singles positions. Marquardt has posted five victories over players ranked in the top 100, including a triumph over 29th-ranked Krystian Pfeiffer of Southern Methodist. In doubles, Marquardt and teammate Pedro Nieto (Sevilla, Spain) are 18-6 at the number one spot and have been ranked as high as ninth in the nation this season.

Kelleher has been William and Mary's number one singles player as a freshman for most of the season, posting a 23-15 record. He posted straight set victories over opponents from Virginia, Wake Forest and North Carolina. Kelleher has also played number one doubles for the Tribe and recorded an impressive 17-5 mark with teammate Geoffrey Russell (Phoenix, AZ), including wins over a pair of ranked opponents.

Ott posted a near-perfect 15-1 singles record after joining the Rams at mid-season and was ranked as high as 11th nationally earlier in the year. He was forced to a third set in just three of his 16 matches this season. In doubles, Ott and teammate Mats Norin (Rolfstorp, Sweden) recorded a 13-4 mark at the number two spot.

Kostin earns CAA men's Coach of the Year honors for the fifth time in the past seven seasons after guiding Virginia Commonwealth to an 18-4 record and a national ranking of 18th. The Rams were a perfect 14-0 at home this season and were 3-0 in CAA action. VCU posted wins over five teams ranked in the Top 25 this season.

The awards were presented Thursday night prior to the quarterfinals of the 2002 CAA Men's Tennis Championship, which resumes Friday morning at Byrd Park in Richmond, Va. The tournament is part of the 2002 CAA/Pioneer Spring Sports Festival.
