NORFOLK, VA (Oct. 30) - Senior midfielder Nicky Koclanes (Pelham, NY) made the most of senior day, scoring one goal and assisting on another to lead Old Dominion (9-8-0) to a 3-0 shutout victory over Radford (13-5-1) in women's soccer action.

Melanie McGovern (Somerdale, NJ) scored her team-high seventh goal of the season in the first half, along with senior forward Jess Martin (Richmond, VA), who added her fifth strike of the season.

McGovern scored the game-winner in the 16th minute, taking Koclanes' cross from the right side and drilling it into the back left net from five yards out. Martin later added the second goal in the first half on a five yard blast from the right side with assists from Emily Becker (Virginia Beach, VA) and Kristen Murray (Wappingers Falls, NY).

The Lady Monarchs dominated offensively and defensively in the first half, taking the lead in shots, 12-2, and corners, 6-1. In the second half, Old Dominion blasted another five shots, while Radford was able to muster seven.

However, the only goal came from Koclanes at the 71:20 mark on a 15 yard blast off the right side. Lady Monarch keeper Alison Kinsler (Virginia Beach, VA), made four saves in the second half, while Tonya Dedmond (North Potomac, MD) made one save in the first half to give the team its record sixth shutout of the season.
