Lady Monarchs Tie Campbell 1-1

NORFOLK, VA-The Old Dominion women's soccer team battled Campbell University to a 1-1 tie Tuesday night at the ODU Soccer Stadium.  Heather Vaughan (Virginia Beach, VA/Princess Anne) scored the lone Lady Monarch goal, early on in the second half.  ODU is now 2-1-1 for the season, while Campbell goes to 1-1-2.


After a scoreless first half, Cadian Lawrence put the Camels on the board first, scoring at the 50:46 mark of the game.  Just over a minute later, ODU struck back, with Heather Vaughan scoring off a Bea Gugliotti (Avon, CT) feed.


For the game, ODU had 24 shots, while Campbell had 13.  The Lady Monarchs held the slight edge in corner kicks as well, 5-4.  Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Miller (Plymouth Meeting, PA) allowed one goal in 110 minutes of play, saving two shots.


ODU will next travel to Greensboro, NC, where they will participate in the UNC-G Adidas Classic.  On Friday, September 10, they'll meet Coastal Carolina at 5:00, and on Sunday, they'll face Pittsburgh.  The Lady Monarch's next home game is Sunday, September 19, when they host Arkansas at 1:00.
