Mid-Major Top 25

NORFOLK, Va. - The Old Dominion women's basketball team is ranked No. 11 in the first release of the Mid-Major Top 25 poll.

Gonzaga sits atop the rankings with 709 points and 12 first-place votes. Wisconsin-Green Bay is second and Colonial Athletic Association foe James Madison is third. Arkansas-Little Rock and Bowling Green round out the top-five.

Delaware (No. 24) joins ODU and James Madison as the three CAA teams ranked. VCU and Hofstra are amongst the other schools receiving votes.

Old Dominion went 19-14 overall a year ago and finished first in the final CAA regular-season standings with a 14-4 mark. The Lady Monarchs welcome back four starters and a number of top reserves. ODU's three leading scorers return, including senior Jasmine Parker, who contributed 11.1 points and 2.4 steals per game en route to earning All-CAA Second Team and All-Defensive Team accolades in 2010.

The women's Mid-Major Top 25 is comprised of teams from America East, Atlantic Sun, Big Sky, Big South, Big West, CAA, Great West, Horizon, Independents, Ivy, Metro Atlantic, Mid-American, Mid-Eastern, Missouri Valley, Northeast, Ohio Valley, Patriot, Southern, Southland, Southwestern, Summit, Sun Belt and West Coast Conference.

The Mid-Major Top 25 will be released every Tuesday throughout the 2010-11 season.

The Lady Monarchs will participate in the annual Blue-White game at the Constant Center tonight at 7 p.m. Old Dominion will also host a pair of scrimmages against Davis & Elkins (Nov. 5) and Bowie State (Nov. 9) before opening the regular season at home against Georgia Tech on November 14 at 2 p.m.
