Seven Monarchs Place at Brute Invitational

Marcus Johnson took first and second places respectively in the 174-pound tournament. Both Curling and Johnson cruised in their first three matches of the day before Johnson eventually lost to Curling in the championship match due to ‘injury default’.
Alexander Richardson went 4-0 and beat Blake Roulo (Buffalo) 3-2 in the semi-finals and Macalay Malderelli (Lock Haven) 4-1 in the championship match to win the 149-pound tournament. Roulo went on to place third.
Also in the 149-pound tournament, senior Jacob Henderson placed second in the 197-pound tournament. Henderson beat Matt Meadows (George Mason) 6-3 in his second match to advance him to the championship against Richard Perry of Bloomsburg. Perry went on to beat Henderson 3-1.
Austin Coburn went 4-2 for the day and won three wrestle-back matches in a row to place fourth in the 184-pound tournament. In the third place match, Coburn wrestled the second seeded Fred Garcia of Lock Haven and lost 9-8.
Matt Tourdot went 3-1 (2 pins, 1 MD) in his first four matches before ‘medically defaulting’ in his last two matches. Tourdot was still able to place sixth in the heavyweight tournament.
