Jessica Canady Named CAA Player Of The Week

NORFOLK, Va. -- Sophomore Jessica Canady (Williamsburg, Va.), who helped the No. 18 Lady Monarchs improve to 17-0 all-time in CAA openers and Old Dominion's fourth straight victory, was named the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week for the week ending January 6th. She is the second Lady Monarch to earn a weekly honor from the conference this season.

Canady came off the bench and poured in a career-high 21 points along with 10 rebounds in Old Dominion's 79-59 win over Georgia State on Sunday. It was her second double-double of the season and of her career and the first time in her career she scored over 20 points in a game. Canady shot a blistering 7-of-8 from the field (87.5 percent) and a perfect 7-of-7 from the free throw line.

To date the sophomore forward is averaging a team second-best 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

Old Dominion, which moved up a spot in the Associated Press Poll following the win over the Panthers to No. 18, returns to action on Wednesday, January 9th against UNC-Wilmington at 7:00 p.m.
