Monarchs Simulated Game Week Ends With Saturday Scrimmage
Oct. 20, 2008
Norfolk, Va. - The Old Dominion University football team will hold its second fall scrimmage this Saturday, Oct. 25 at 6 p.m. The scrimmage will be held at the Powhatan High School Complex on the corner of 43rd and Powhatan Avenue in Norfolk and admission is free.
The scrimmage will be the culmination of the Monarchs second simulated game week as players and staff go through a weekly schedule mirroring the one they will follow next fall when ODU begins playing outside competition. Monday players will lift weights and focus on academics before returning to the practice field on Tuesday for the start of the week.
Following practice on Thursday head coach Bobby Wilder will be at the Monarch Grill in the Springhill Suites on Hampton Boulevard for his weekly radio show. Monarch fans are invited to join the live audience, and have an opportunity to ask Coach Wilder questions and win prizes.
Since the Monarchs first scrimmage back on Sept. 27, the team has added to its packages in all three phases of the game and is now operating with roughly 25% of its playbook in place. Saturday's scrimmage will closely resemble an actual game with the team being divided into a blue and a white team and with special teams situations being live.
