Lady Monarchs Open Pre-Season at ECU Wednesday

NORFOLK, VA. -- The Old Dominion Lady Monarch soccer squad opens the season with the first of two pre-season exhibitions Wednesday at 1 p.m. against East Carolina. The Lady Monarchs then host Duke on Friday night at 7 p.m. in the second exhibition.

The Lady Monarchs have been picked to finish seventh in the CAA. The League coaches selected William and Mary to win the league with VCU and James Madison to follow.

The Lady Monarchs return 21 letterwinners, plus three outstanding recruits. Heading the returnees is senior Diane Baucom (Va. Beach, VA.), and last seasons leading scorer Ashley Kramer (Jefferson Hlls, PA.). Junior Maura Linz (Prospect, KY.) will anchor the midfield, while on defense Shibaughn Stevens (Penfield, NY.) and Kasey Johnson (Va. Beach, VA.) return.

The Lady Monarchs open the regular season on Aug. 29 at UNC Greensboro.
