The Monarchs have been preseason ranked No. 23 by the USA Today/NWCA/AWN Division I Coaches Poll.

ODU sent a total of seven wrestlers to the NCAA tournament last year. Five of those seven wrestlers return to the Monarch lineup this season.

Redshirt sophomore Jerome Robinson (125) was twice named the CAA Rookie of the Week last season and placed third at the CAA Championships while earning an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships in St. Louis.

Scott Festejo (133) went 23-16 a year ago and won the CAA title to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA Championships. The junior led the team in falls with seven and defeated three NCAA qualifiers last season.

Old Dominion held their annual Blue-Silver Intrasquad scrimmage on Oct. 25.

During the scrimmage, Scott Festejo proved to be more than Michael Hayes could handle on his way to a 10-3 major decision in the 133 weight class.

125 pound redshirt freshman Rob Deutsch cruised to an 11-2 major decision over. Chris Mecate beat Josh Clark via major decision in an 8-0 141 pound bout.
