Norfolk, VA- The Old Dominion University women's soccer team fell to ninth-ranked Clemson this evening, 2-0. The Tigers improve to 3-0 while Old Dominion slips to 1-2 on the season.

The two teams battled to 0-0 halftime draw, with each side launching five shots. In the opening minutes of the second half, however, Clemson's Paige Ledford collected a loose ball in front of the Lady Monarch net and put it in for a 1-0 lead. After play started again, Clemson's Leigh Clark took a pass from teammate Heather Breem and found the back of the net to increase the Tiger lead by two. Old Dominion had excellent scoring opportunities afterwards, but had one shot turned away by Clemson goalie Katie Carson and another shot cleared off the goal line by a Tiger defender.

Carson was impressive all night, collecting four saves in the shutout. Lady Monarch goalie Tonya Dedmond (North Potomac, MD) did well in the net too, registering five saves.

Clemson held a 11-8 advantage in shots and a 7-3 advantage in corners on the evening.

Old Dominion will try to rebound when they open their CAA schedule at home against UNC-Wilmington on Sunday. Game time is 12:00 p.m.
