Old Dominion Women's Tennis Defeates George Mason, 6-1

NORFOLK, VA -- The Old Dominion women's tennis team improved to 11-8 overall as they defeated George Mason, 6-1, its final regular conference season match-up. The Lady Monarchs begin preparations for the CAA Championships to held in Richmond this weekend.
The Lady Monarch captured five singles victories, all in straight sets, allowing the Patriots to capture their lone point by default at sixth singles. In all, Old Dominion allowed George Mason to win just four games in singles competition. Higlights included perfect 6-0, 6-0 victories by sophomore Nataly Cahana (Bilak Quiriat, Israel) at first singles, senior Mily Kannarkat (VA Beach, VA) at third singles, and junior Julia Sotiriu (Wendelstein, Germany) at fifth singles.
In doubles play, Old Dominion captured the point with the first doubles team of Cahana/Kannarkat and second doubles team of Araujo/van Rooyen each playing to a 8-0 victory.
The Old Dominion women's tennis team will return to action they begin defense of their 2001 CAA title at the 2002 CAA Championship in Richmond this weekend.
