Monarchs Host Elizabeth City State In A Friday Night Exhibition

NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Monarchs return to the hardwood Friday night for a 7 p.m. exhibition game against the Vikings of Elizabeth City State of the CIAA at the Constant Center.
ECSU was 18-10 last year and will be led by 6-7 senior forward Rondy Tucker who averaged 12 points and 8.3 rebounds per game last season. 6-6 senior forward Paul Goldsmith also returns after averaging 9.2 points and 4.7 rebounds per game, as well as 6-3 guard Marquie Cooke who averaged 8.5 points per game and dished out a team high 92 assists last year.
The Monarchs opened the exhibition season with a 79-68 victory over Barton Tuesday night. Five Monarchs scored in double figures led by red-shirt freshman Dimitri Batten with 17 points, followed by senior center Chris Cooper with 12 points and 15 boards. Freshman Breon Key scored 12 with four assists and three steals, while Marquel De Lancey and freshman Jason Pimentel each scored 10 points.
The will be the final exhbition game before opening up the regular season at home on Nov. 12 against Northern Iowa from the Missouri Valley at 7 p.m.
