Bill Dee, former Christopher Newport assistant and four-time state championship Phoebus High School coach, finished his second season at Old Dominion in 2012.

Dee will coach the Monarch defensive linemen in 2013.

Dee joined the coaching staff in the spring of 2011 and patroled the sidelines overseeing the offensive line. The Monarchs garnered a 10-3 overall mark, its first ever national ranking finished the season at No. 10 in the country, and advanced to the second round of the FCS playoffs. In ODU's first season in the Colonial Athletic Association, considered by many the top FCS conference in the nation.

The Monarch offensive line helped the team top the league standings in scoring offense and rank fifth nationally at 36.69 points per game. Additionally, the offensive line helped the team rank first in CAA in total offense and ranked 10th in the country racking up 439.08 yards each time the Monarchs took the field and rank third among all conference schools and 18th in the country gaining 270.92 yards of passing offense.Under Dee's leadership, Jeremy Hensley, the Monarchs' center was a Third Team All-CAA honoree.

Dee joined the Monarchs after a two-year stint at Division III Christopher Newport in Newport News where he coached the inside linebackers and defensive line. The Captains won the 2010 USA South Conference title and competed in the NCAA Division III playoffs. A legendary high school coach in Virginia, Dee led Hampton-based Phoebus to four state championships and compiled a 243-76-1 record during his 24-year career. Capturing a .761 winning percentage, he helped the Phantoms to nine district and seven regional championships in addition to his four state titles. In his final game, Phoebus defeated Dinwiddie, 37-13, at Virginia Tech's Lane Stadium in 2008, completing a 15-0 season. His team ended up ranked #3 in the nation by

Beginning his coaching career at Greene High School in New York, Dee served as the defensive coordinator for four seasons before moving to the Hampton Roads region and spending a year at Denbigh High School in a similar capacity.

Dee's first head coaching job was at Southhampton High School from 1981-1984 before his illustrious 24-year career at Phoebus. Dee is a 1975 Mansfield State graduate where he played four seasons at offensive guard.
