A great passer who averaged 8.7 assists per game while scoring 1,038 career points, Dick St. Clair captained three Old Dominion University basketball teams to 61 victories.

St. Clair earned honorable mention Division II All-American honors as a junior in 1968-69. That year, he averaged 9.0 assists per game as the Monarchs under Hall of Fame coach Sonny Allen went 21-10, advancing to its first NCAA Division II regional tournament. As a sophomore, St. Clair average 10.0 assists per game. He averaged 17.7 points per game in 1968-69. He was injured his senior year.

A 5-9 guard who dunked, St. Clair helped set a team season scoring record of 98.2 points per game in 1967-68. St. Clair still ranks near the top at Old Dominion in career assists with 608, free throw accuracy (82.0), and in scoring. A star on four All-Navy championship teams, St. Clair helped the Monarchs when they played most of their games on the road by driving the team's 18-passenger bus.
