NORFOLK, Va. – Former Old Dominion University All-American defensive linemen Ronnie Cameron was back on campus last weekend and spoke to the Monarchs prior to the Liberty game.

“Ronnie gave an inspiring speech to our team on what it means to be a Monarch football player. He talked about the pride he feels in his alma mater. He reminded the players to cherish every game at SB Ballard with the 12th Monarchs,” ODU Head Coach Bobby Wilder said. “He talked about the winning culture that has been established and the importance of teaching the new Monarchs the Aim High philosophy. I was excited the most accomplished player in our brief history addressed our team.”

Cameron played two years at Old Dominion after transferring from Hofstra.  Cameron was named the 2011 CAA Defensive Player of the Year and Student Athlete of the Year.  Cameron played just two seasons at ODU, but ranks sixth in school history with 145 tackles and is second in sacks and tackles for loss.  Last year, Cameron was on the active roster for the Cleveland Browns, and the practice squad of the Philadelphia Eagles.
