Kelli James To Be Inducted Into the Camden Co. Sports Hall Of Fame

Kelli James, a two-time All-American field hockey player, leading Old Dominion to NCAA national championships in 1988, 1990, and 1992 will be inducted into the Camden County Sports Hall of Fame on Oct. 24th. The eighth annual dinner and induction ceremony will be held at 5 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill, NJ. To purchase tickets, call 856-401-2451 or email halloffame@camdencounty.com.

Joining Kelli will be former ODU baseball All-American Todd Azar ('87), along with Rosemary Deniken, Laraine Stiles Flynn, Ralph Ipri, Ken Kelley, Al Mattern, Larry Mauriello, Bill Narleski, Jim Ryan, Meghan Bolger Stasi, Kevin Walls and Gary Williams.

The Lady Monarchs were 23-2-1 in 1990, and 25-0 in 1992. In 1992, James became one of an impressive list of Lady Monarch field hockey players to win the coveted Honda Award as the nation's top player in her sport.

James led the nation in scoring with 131 points and 59 assists in 1992. That year ODU captured the NCAA National Championship with a 4-0 victory over Iowa, in Richmond, VA. James was twice named the New Jersey Writer's Association's Female Athlete of the Year in 1990 and 1992. She completed her career with 65 career goals, 66 career assists, and 198 career points.

James earned first team All-American honors in 1990 and 1992. She also earned All-CAA honors in 1992. James was a four-time All- South Region selection and was the 1990 and 1992 NCAA All-Tournament selection.

James was a member of the 1996 U.S. Olympic field hockey team which competed in the Atlanta Games. She served as vice-captain for the USA field hockey squad at the 1998 World Cup, and tied for the team scoring lead for team USA in the 1999 Pan American games. The Medford, NJ native graduated with a degree in marketing education in 1992, and has a master's degree in corporate training. She currently lives in Atlanta, GA., where she has her own business.

She was inducted into the ODU Sports Hall of Fame in 2003 and is also an inductee in the Virginia Sports Hall.
