New Haven, Conn. – The Old Dominion University team fell short (6-1) to the Bulldogs from Yale University (4-2) on Saturday afternoon at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs were fresh off a three-week period, in which they did not play any matches. This was also the fourth consecutive home match for Yale.

In the previous five ITA national team rankings, Yale had been ranked (as high as No. 58 in the country). Yale’s only two losses came at the hands of two top programs in No. 44 Virginia Tech and No. 53 East Tennessee State.

Old Dominion’s Abdoulaye Camara stepped up in a big way to claim a come from behind victory at the No. 6 single’s spot, as he took down Yale’s Alex Hagermoser in a three-set thriller 4-6, 6-1, 6-2.

ODU’s No. 56 nationally ranked Carlos Lopez Villa dropped his first match all season to Yale’s fabulous freshman Tyler Lu (6-7, 6-7). The loss, snapped Lopez Villa’s 18 match winning streak, which dated all the way back to March 11 of 2013. Lopez Villa is now 11-1 on the season.

The tandem of Lopez Villa and Jonas Kuwert were handling business (7-6) before their match was called off due to the clinch rule.
