NORFOLK, VA—Old Dominion University head women’s golf coach Andy Crabtree announced the signing of Maggie Simmermacher (Pilar, Buenos Aires, Argentina) to a national letter of intent.  Simmermacher is the No. 1 ranked amateur and member of the Argentina national team, and joins Czech Republic’s number one ranked junior Katerina Vlasinova (Trebic, Czech Republic) as incoming newcomers for the 2014-15 season.

“We are excited to welcome Maggie Simmermacher to the ODU family,” said Crabtree. “Maggie is a winner on the golf course, an excellent student in the classroom, and just a great person, which is everything I look for in a student athlete.  I couldn’t be happier to have Maggie join our program.”

Simmermacher is the No. 1 ranked youth golfer in Argentina, and her World Golf Amateur ranking is 347. She has won three tournaments which include Campeonato Abierto Argentino de Damas Hurlingham, the Copa de Oro Mar del Plata and Campeonato Nacional por Golpes.  Simmermacher placed third at Doral Publix Junior Classic, sixth at Duke of York Young Champions Trophy and the South American Junior Championship.

Simmermacher was also recruited by South Carolina, Georgia, Ole Miss, Georgia State and Jacksonville State.  She is the daughter of Gloria and Juan Manuel Simmermacher and has two brothers and one sister.
