NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University at NC State football contest on Saturday, Sept. 6 will be a 6 p.m. kickoff and be broadcast on ESPN3, the Atlantic Coast Conference announced on Tuesday.
The meeting will be the first between the two schools and also the first game of a scheduled home-and-home series, with ODU hosting the Wolfpack in 2015.
“We are excited that our game at N.C. State will be aired on ESPN. This will be great exposure for Old Dominion University and allow our fans from all over the country to watch our team compete vs. the ACC,” ODU Head Coach Bobby Wilder said. “We are also excited about the proximity of this away game. We traveled approximately 5000 fans to our game at East Carolina last year for our first away game and I anticipate we will have just as many if not more fans for this game.”
NC State is coached by Dave Doeren, who enters his second season with the Wolfpack. NC State went 3-9 in 2013 with wins over Louisiana Tech, Richmond and Central Michigan.
The Monarchs are coming off an 8-4 campaign in 2013 and enter their first season playing a Conference USA Schedule. ODU opens the season at home on Aug. 30 against Hampton before traveling to NC State. The Monarchs host Eastern Michigan on Sept. 13, hosting its first-ever FBS team at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium. ODU follows by opening the C-USA schedule at defending champion Rice, before returning home to host Middle Tennessee in the Conference USA home opener on Friday, Sept. 26.
