ODU to Hold Second Annual Fan Appreciation Night on Saturday, Aug. 23
NORFOLK, Va. – On Saturday, Aug. 23, Old Dominion University will host its second annual Monarch Fan Appreciation Day to kick off the 2014-15 athletic seasons for all of ODU’s sports. The event will be held at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium from 7-8:30 p.m. and is free and open to the public.
Activities will begin with a Football 101 session with the ODU football coaching staff. Fans will have the chance to join the ODU coaches on the field as they explain the basic offensive and defensive schemes in the Monarchs’ playbook.
Immediately following the Football 101 session a procession of student-athletes and coaches from all 18 varsity sports will enter Ballard Stadium and pose for a group photo on the field with attendees. Fans can get autographs and mingle with their favorite ODU athletes, coaches, and Big Blue.
Everyone in attendance will get a sneak peak of the 2014 football team entrance video, have an opportunity to take a picture in official ODU team jerseys, and participate in a traditions camp with the Monarch Marching Band and spirit squads, as they teach everyone the ODU fight song and “Ice Cream and Cake.” Finally, fans will get a chance to experience the thrill of running through smoke of the tunnel on gameday with “Crazy Train” playing on the sound system.
Monarch Fan Appreciation Day is open to the public and parking will be available on a first come, first serve basis. Concessions stands will be open for guests as well as a merchandise tent from the ODU Bookstore. ODU students can use their meal pass at the concessions stands to grab a bite to eat. Students may also sign up to be a member of the Monarch Maniacs at the event for $25 and receive their official Maniacs jersey for the 2014-15 season.
