ODU Wrestling Monarch Matcast: Episode One

NORFOLK, Va. – Head Coach Steve Martin and the Old Dominion wrestling team are proud to announce that the program will take part in the Mat Talk Podcast Network (MTPN) for the 2014-15 season.

The Monarch Matcast is dedicated to all things in and around the Old Dominion University wrestling program. The podcast will feature news, reviews, previews and interviews from Head Coach Steve Martin and his staff that will give fans, alumni and friends of Monarch wrestling updates on all the happenings within the wrestling program at Old Dominion University.

Host Jason Bryant, a three-time national wrestling writer and broadcaster of the year and 2004 ODU graduate, talked with Associate Head Coach Mike Dixon and Assistant Coach Alex Dolly for the first episode that aired today.

“We are excited about the opportunity for more fans to gain exposure into our program,” noted Dixon. “We look forward to working with Jason Bryant for the 2014-15 season.”

Dixon gave a preseason update and some news on some upcoming Monarch wrestling events, while Dolly talked about his journey to Tashkent, Uzbekistan to compete at the Wrestling World Championships.

Dolly will be wrestling at the World Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan during September 8-14. The ODU assistant coach will be representing Ireland and will make his second appearance at the World Championships. He finished ninth in the World in 2009.

“The Monarch Matcast is a great opportunity for fans to stay up to date on Monarch wrestling from members of the program,” added Dolly. “Get the inside scoop as it comes from the coaches and the athletes themselves.”
