Randale L. Richmond is in his first year as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Welfare at Old Dominion.
Richmond provides leadership, oversight and supervision related to internal operations of the athletic academic advising student services, the compliance program, student-athlete experience and day-to-day tasks of the athletics department. This includes NCAA eligibility, graduation audits and student-athlete welfare. In addition, Richmond also oversees matters concerning eligibility, admissions, financial aid, rules education, rules interpretations and monitoring procedures.
The Akron, Ohio, native comes to ODU from Kent State University, where he spent 10 years working in Student-Athlete Services and Compliance. Richmond began as an Assistant Director of Compliance in 2006, before being elevated to the Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance in 2010. Richmond was then promoted to Associate Athletic Director of Student-Athlete Services in 2012.
Richmond was a 2015 D1A Institute Participant and was a 2015 graduate of the NCAA Leadership Institute, serving as his class’ graduation speaker.
Richmond was named to the Crain’s Cleveland Business list of ‘Who To Watch In Education’ in 2014 and Kaleidoscope Magazine’s ‘40 Under 40 Club’ in 2013. He is a current member of the National Association for Athletic Compliance (NAAC) Thought Leaders.
Richmond received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Baldwin-Wallace College in 2004 with a major in history and a minor in sociology. He then earned his Masters of Science in Education from Kent State in 2006.
Randale and his wife, Ja’Alycia, have two sons, Ramahn and Ramar, and one daughter, Jayla.
