Vellines to be inducted into Canandaigua Academy HOF

CANANDAIGUA, N.Y. – Old Dominion women’s lacrosse assistant coach Ashley Vellines will be honored Friday, Sept. 23, as she joins six other Canandaigua Academy (N.Y.) alumni in the 2016 Hall of Fame Class.

Vellines, then Ashley Friend, played lacrosse, basketball and swam at CA from 2000 to 2003. She was a four-year varsity player for the Canandaigua Girls Lacrosse team earning three team MVP awards (2001-03), an All-American first team selection and was a four-time All-League first team honoree. Vellines, a two-time team captain, scored 51 goals her senior season earning her the CA 2003 Female Athlete of the Year award.

Vellines was an accomplished swimmer for CA as well, claiming the Finger Lakes dive champion title three consecutive years (2001-03) and earning the Section V diving championship in 2003.

Following her high school career, Vellines went on to play collegiate lacrosse at the University of Richmond (2003-07) where she earned back-to-back A-10 first team conference honors (2006-07) and multiple player of the week awards. She started every game of her collegiate career and finished her career in the top five for career goals, assists and points.
