Men's Soccer Falls 2-0 in Semifinals of the Conference Tournament
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Old Dominion fell 2-0 to FIU in the semifinal match of the 2016 Conference USA Men’s Soccer tournament. Paul Marie of FIU scored both goals for the Panthers in the 2-0 win over the Monarchs.
FIU took over the second half as Paul Marie got his team on the scoreboard first in the 57th minute of the match. The goal, Marie’s second of the season, came off of the double assist by Santiago Patino and Ismael Longo from 18-yards out.
Marie followed up nine minutes later in the 66th, with his second goal of the game on an unassisted shot to the back of the net from 3-yards out.
After a pretty even first half the Panthers took control in the second. FIU led the stat lines 14-6 in shots with seven shots on goal. Alex Tiesenhausen recorded five saves on the night giving up the two goals as ODU’s season ends with a record of 6-9-2, 2-5-1.
