ST. LOUIS -- Five Old Dominion wrestlers will get underway Thursday at 12 p.m. ET at the 2017 NCAA DI Wrestling Championships at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis. Alex Madrigal, Michael Hayes and Seldon Wright are making their first appearances at the national tournament, while Kevin Beazley makes his second trip and 2014 All-American Jack Dechow will wrestle in his fourth NCAA Championship.

Fresh off a fifth-place finish at the MAC tournament, Madrigal enters the 2017 NCAA Championship with a 12-12 record. The redshirt freshman from Chicago will face Illinois' No. 8 seed Zane Richards, who claimed All-American honors by placing fourth at the 2016 NCAA Championships.

At 149, redshirt senior Michael Hayes will open his tournament Thursday against Northern Illinois' No. 14 seed Steve Bleise. The pair met twice this season, with Bleise earning a 9-3 decision on Nov. 29 and a 9-7 TB victory at the MAC Championships two weeks ago. Hayes enters his first national tournament with an 18-13 record and a fifth-place finish at the MAC tournament.

Local Chesapeake product Seldon Wright, who received an at-large bid to the 2017 NCAA Championships, will face Michigan's No. 2 seed Logan Massa in round one. Wright, a sophomore, enters his first national tournament with a 20-10 record and a fourth-place finish at the MAC tournament. Massa is 27-2 in his rookie campaign, with both losses coming to two-time NCAA Champion and top-ranked Isaiah Martinez from Illinois.

Jack Dechow, the No. 8 seed at 184 lbs., will face Northern Colorado's Dylan Gabel in the opening round. Champion at the 2017 MAC Championships, the 28-3 redshirt senior is looking to claim All-American honors for the second time in his career after placing fourth in 2014. Gabel enters the tournament with a 24-9 mark.

Kevin Beazley, who was granted the No. 10 seed at 197 lbs., will square off against SIU Edwardsville's Jake Tindle. Beazley enters his second NCAA Championship with a 22-5 season record and a runner-up finish at the MAC tournament, while Tindle won the Southern Conference and maintains a 19-10 record.
