ST. LOUIS -- Old Dominion wrestlers Jack Dechow and Kevin Beazley mounted come-from-behind victories and stunned the Scottrade Center crowd of 18,157 Thursday night in the championship round of 16 at the 2017 NCAA DI Wrestling Championships in St. Louis, landing themselves a berth in tomorrow morning's quarterfinals.

Eighth-seeded Dechow trailed No. 9 Nathan Jackson from Indiana 5-2 at the start of the third period after surrendering two early takedowns, but the fifth-year senior from Richmond, Illinois scored a match-tying takedown in the waning seconds to force overtime. Dechow wasted little time in the sudden victory period, capitalizing off a Jackson shot for the spin around takedown and the 7-5 OT victory.

Moments later in the 197-pound championship round of 16 bout, Kevin Beazley, who trailed 2-0 midway through the third period, reversed Nebraska's No. 7 seed Aaron Studebaker into a cradle and secured a fall at the 6:11 mark, shocking the Scottrade Center crowd and landing himself a berth in tomorrow morning's quarterfinal round.

Fifth-year senior Michael Hayes began the day with a narrow 5-3 loss to Northern Illinois' No. 14 seed Steve Bleise, but rebounded in the consolation pigtail with a 16-1 tech. fall win over Lock Haven's Kyle Shoop. Hayes was eliminated late Thursday evening after falling 10-6 to George Mason's Sahid Kargbo.

Sophomore Seldon Wright lost his opening bout to No. 2 Logan Massa from Michigan bya  19-3 tech. fall before dropping a 16-0 tech. fall against Keilan Torres from Northern Colorado in the first round of consolations.

Monarch veterans Dechow and Beazley cruised to victories during Thursday morning's first session, as Dechow topped Dylan Gabel from Northern Colorado, 6-2, and Beazley flattened SIU Edwardsville's Jake Tindle in 2:47.

Dechow will face two-time NCAA Champion and top-seeded Gabe Dean from Cornell in tomorrow's quarterfinals, while Beazley will wrestle Minnesota's returning All-American and No. 2 seed Brett Pfarr. Dechow and Beazley are both just one win away from claiming All-American status at this year's NCAA tournament.

The championship quarters are slated to begin at 11 a.m. ET and can be viewed live via ESPN3
