Tutchton Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

NORFOLK, Va. - Cydney Tutchton of the Old Dominion lacrosse team was named CoSIDA Academic All-District, the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday.

The junior from Marietta, Georgia, holds a 4.0 GPA in pursuit of a biology degree from ODU. This is the first time Tutchton has earned the honor, which comes following her being named to the 2017 ASUN All-Academic team.

On the field, Tutchton started 13-of-16 games in which she played and returns next season as the leading scorer for the Lady Monarchs. She finished the season with 32 points on 24 goals and eight assists. Tutchton collected 23 ground balls, 28 draw controls and forced 10 turnovers.

Criteria for CoSIDA Academic All-District are as follows:
·      The nominee must be a starter or important reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.
·      Nominees must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team's games.
·      Nominees must have a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale).
·      Nominees must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at your institution and must have completed at least one calendar year at your institution.

All First Team Academic All-District honorees will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballots, where first-, second- and third-team All-America selections take place.
