NORFOLK, Va. -- Former Temple standout guard and high school basketball coach Ashley Morris has been named the Director of Operations for Old Dominion women's basketball, head coach Nikki McCray-Penson announced on Thursday.
"We are excited that Ashley has joined our Monarch family," said McCray-Penson. "She is a tireless worker with a bright future. Ashley also brings a wealth of knowledge and championship pedigree to our program."
Morris comes to Old Dominion from her high school alma mater Central High School in Philadelphia, where she was the head coach for five seasons. At Central, Morris guided the team to three consecutive Class 6A championships and was named the Public League Gold Division Coach of the Year in 2011-12.
“I'm excited to be a part of the Monarch family under Coach McCray," said Morris. "She comes from a rich winning tradition where hard work and discipline were the remedy to success."
Morris played collegiately at Temple for four seasons from 2004 to 2008 under the legendary Dawn Staley. She ended her career with the third-most assists in Temple women's basketball history and was an All-Atlantic 10 and Big Five selection during her senior season. Following her college career, Morris played professionally overseas in Italy and France.
Morris graduated from Temple in 2008 with a degree in Management Information Systems.
"I am fortunate to have this opportunity to learn and grow professionally," continued Morris. "I'm looking forward to contributing to the success of the program."
