Victor Diaz completed his first season as the volunteer assistant for Old Dominion baseball in 2018.
This past season, the Monarchs compiled a 15-37 record, as Diaz helped overseee a young pitching staff. Morgan Maguire blossomed into a star in the rotation, going 4-7 with a 3.38 ERA with two complete-game shutouts. Diaz also helped develop a plethora of true freshman arms, including Connor Muly (1-0, 3.31 ERA) and Jason Hartline (2-4, 4.05 ERA), who were two of the most valuable bullpen arms for the Monarchs in 2018.
Diaz, a former pitcher at Old Dominion, previously coached at Kentucky Wesleyan College for one season during 2017.
In his lone season at Kentucky Wesleyan, Diaz guided KWC to a Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship and a DII NCAA Regional appearance. Under the guidance of Diaz, the Kentucky Wesleyan pitching staff posted a team ERA of 4.60 and threw a total of nine complete games and five shutouts. The KWC also struck out 326 in 422.1 innings, while walking only 152.
Diaz pitched for Old Dominion for four seasons from 2013 to 2016. The New Jersey native compiled a 15-7 career record with a 4.39 ERA. During his senior season in 2016, Diaz went 6-4 with a 3.78 as the Sunday starter.
