Garbutt Releases 2017-18 Rowing Schedule

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion rowing head coach Dan Garbutt announced the 2017-18 schedule for the rowing Monarchs. The season slate consists of seven competitions including two in Norfolk on the Lafayette River.
The season begins in late October as the team heads to Boston, Massachusetts for the 2017 Head of the Charles on the 21-22.
In two weeks the team competes again at the Head of the Hooch in Chattanooga, Tennessee on November 4-5. The regatta wraps up the fall season.
After holiday break the team returns for training at Lake Gaston in North Carolina from January 2-7. The Monarchs head to Cocoa Beach, Florida, for spring break, March 4-11, for more training before the bulk of their competitions begin.
The Monarchs come home for two regatta on the Lafayette River as they host George Mason, George Washington and Jacksonville for a non-conference meet on March 24.
Texas, Oklahoma and West Virginia travel to Norfolk on April 7 for Big 12 conference competition.
The following weekend, April 14-15, teams from across the country converge in Oak Ridge, Tennessee for the 2018 Southern Intercollegiate Rowing Association Championships.
On April 22, Old Dominion heads to Fairfax, Virginia, to compete at the George Mason Invitational.
Wrapping up the regular season is the Big 12 Championships on May 12-13. The teams return to Oak Ridge, Tenn., to battle it out for the 2018 Big 12 Rowing Championship.
