NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion University Football practiced for the third time this fall and the first time in shoulder pads.

The pads were popping this morning as the offensive and defensive lines worked on combination blocks and shedding the double team and later in the practice worked the first inside drill of camp.  Inside drill focuses on running plays with the front seven.

During team drills, both the offense and defense made big plays. Blake LaRussa tossed a 50-yard completion to Melvin Vaughn to set up a 10-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Simmons.

LaRussa later connected with Travis Fulgham for a score, while Steven Williams tossed a pair of touchdowns, one to Hasaan Patterson, and another to Keion White. The defensive line added several sacks, led by Oshane Ximines and Bunmi Rotimi.

The Monarchs open the season at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 2 against Albany at 6 p.m.
