16th Annual Hoops for the Cure Set for Saturday
By ODU Athletics
NORFOLK, Va. -- The 16th Annual Hoops for the Cure game presented by Bon Secours in Motion Physical Therapy Sports Performance is set for Saturday, Feb. 18, when the Old Dominion women’s basketball team hosts UTEP at 2 p.m.
The game, which began in 2003, has grown into a must-see event at the Ted Constant Center that features a Health Fair, the Survivor Walk and several promotions for fans in attendance. Attendees are encouraged to be in their seats by 1:30 p.m. to cheer on the survivors as they participate in the Survivor Walk. A moment of silence will be held for those that have been lost to cancer prior to the Walk. Also, stick around at halftime to enjoy a stable of Hoops for a Cure, a performance by Jazzercise.
Making this year's event even more special is that first-year head coach Nikki McCray-Penson is a breast cancer survivor.
The first 1,000 fans in the door will receive a pink Hoops for the Cure t-shirt and the first 2,000 fans will also receive a pink pom-pom. Doors open at 1 p.m.
