Men's Soccer Signs Its' First Two Players of the 2018 Recruiting Class

NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion men’s soccer coach Alan Dawson announced the addition of two players to the 2018 roster on Thursday afternoon. David Tombini and Daniel Bloyou will continue their academic and athletic careers as Monarchs.

The Monarchs finished the 2017 season 13-6-2 and as C-USA Champions. ODU also advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

Meet the Incoming Monarchs

Name: David Tombini 
Position: Defense
Hometown: Olney, Md. 
High School: Our Lady of Good Counsel High School 
Club Team: Baltimore Armour 
Honors: WCAC 2nd team 
Academic Interest: International Business
Why ODU? “I want to play at a high level and compete with players who will push me to be better and no other college will give me that except for ODU.”

Dawson on Tombini
“David has all the tools to be a top college defender. He is a vocal leader who leads by example on and off the pitch. He has good size and athleticism that will translate well into the college game. He also has a good understanding of the game and is very competitive. He comes from a soccer family and is very passionate about our game. We look forward to coaching him and welcome him to our soccer family.”

Why ODU? “It was very important for me as a person and a player to find not just a college, but a home for the next four years that I can quickly adapt to and make an impact. I believe ODU is the perfect fit. The Monarchs are a young side that have a lot of talent and a coaching staff that are committed to player development and that is what I am all about.”

Daniel is a dynamic attacking player who can play multiple positions in that role. He is extremely quick, which poses problems for defenders but he can also combine with others in open play. He is fearless, hard working and most importantly he is passionate about playing the game. He was a highly sought after recruit and we welcome him to our Soccer Family.”
