Four Monarchs Open Up NCAA Championships on Thursday at the Quicken Loans Arena

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Four Monarchs in Michael McGee, Alex Madrigal, Larry Early, and Seldon Wright begin their NCAA Championships on Thursday, March 15 at 12 p.m. in the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Madrigal (141) and Wright (174) were 2017 national qualifiers.

2018 125-pound MAC Champion Michael McGee (28-8) will face #5 seed Sean Fausz of NC State in the opening round. There are just 16 true freshman in the entire tournament, McGee is one of five true freshman in the 125-pound weight class at the tournament. 

Receiving an at-large bid this season, Alex Madrigal (20-8) returns to the NCAA Championship after a seventh place finish at the MAC Championship at 141 pounds. The redshirt sophomore faces #4 seed Joey McKenna of Ohio State in the first round. 

Redshirt sophomore Larry Early (27-10) also recieved an at-large bid. Early received a pigtail in the NCAA Tournament, where he faces Tyler Marinelli of Gardner-Webb. The pigtail is a match prior to the round of 32. 

Seldon Wright (25-10) finished third in the MAC Championship and earned an automatic berth into the NCAA Championship at the 174-pound weight class. The junior faces #16 seed CJ Brucki of CMU in the first round.
