IOWA FALLS, Iowa – Future wrestling Monarch Tim Young recently received the Provost’s Leadership Award at Ellsworth Community College. The award is given to an individual that displays outstanding leadership qualities throughout their time at Ellsworth. The Provost at Ellsworth personally selects the individual.

“Winning this award is one of the highest honors that a student can achieve at Ellsworth,” explained Ellsworth head coach Cole Spree. “Being recognized by the Provost for his outstanding leadership qualities speaks testament to the type of individual Tim is. Not only is Tim an outstanding athlete, but even more importantly an outstanding individual.”

Young is an Illinois native and won the 2017 JUCO National Championship at 197 pounds. In 2015, Young was the 195-pound Illinois Class 3A State Champion. Young was also a 2014 Fila Cadet Greco National Champion and World Team member, where he finished 5th in the world for Team USA.

“The fact that this award has never been awarded to an athlete at Ellsworth is a testament to what we saw in Tim throughout the recruiting process. His character and leadership ability will continue to shape and add to the culture of our program. We are very proud of Tim’s work off the mat, and look forward to adding his leadership here at ODU,” said head coach Steve Martin.
