NORFOLK, Va. – ODU men’s tennis head coach, Dominik Mueller, was named the 2018 VaSID Coach of the Year on Wednesday afternoon. Adam Moundir and Aziz Kijametovic garnered All-State Singles First Team honors, while Vincent Schneider and Francois Musitelli were named to the All-State Singles Second Team. Kijametovic and Musitelli were also named to the All-State Doubles Second Team.

Dominik Mueller: State Coach of the Year
Mueller was also named the Conference USA Coach of the Year. His program climbed as high as No. 25 in the national rankings this season after taking down No. 14 Dartmouth (4-1) and No. 24 Utah (4-0). The Monarchs claimed the first conference title for the program since 1994. Old Dominion entered the NCAA Tournament with a 19-6 overall record and went a perfect 6-0 against C-USA opponents. In the C-USA Tournament, ODU outscored its opponents 12-0. The Tennis Monarchs claimed victory in 13 of their last 15 matches, while outscoring their opponents 57-21 during that stretch. ODU also rode an 11-match win-streak into the NCAA Tourney, in which the Monarchs outscored their opponents 46-12.

Adam Moundir: All-State Singles First Team
This is the third time Adam Moundir has been named to the VaSID All-State Singles First Team. He was the ITA Atlantic Region Senior Player of the Year. Moundir, a two-time Conference USA Player of the Year, was previously named to the All-Conference USA Singles First Team and All-Conference USA Doubles Second Team earlier in the month. He compiled an 18-13 season record, went 14-7 in dual matches in No. 1 singles and had two ranked wins. He went 4-0 against Conference USA opponents and entered the NCAA Tournament on an eight-match winning streak.

Aziz Kijametovic: All-State Singles First Team
Kijametovic automatically qualified for the NCAA Singles Tournaments, as he was nationally ranked throughout the season. He was named the C-USA Player of the Year, garnered All-Conference USA Singles First Team honors and was an All-Conference USA Doubles First Team honoree.

Kijametovic ended the season ranked No. 124 in the ITA for singles, which made him the only Conference USA player to be ranked. In addition, he was ranked with two different doubles partners throughout the season. He compiled a 21-8 season singles record, 13-5 in dual matches, 6-2 versus teams ranked in the Top 50 and 3-2 against ranked opponents. His body of work for this season also included one Conference USA Athlete of the Month honor in the fall and three C-USA Athlete of the Week honors during the spring campaign.

Vincent Schneider: All-State Singles Second Team
Vincent Schneider was named the ITA Most Improved Senior for the Atlantic Region. In his one semester in Norfolk, Schneider was named the C-USA Newcomer of the Year, Outstanding Singles Player of the C-USA Championship, All-Conference USA Singles Second Team and Outstanding Doubles Team of the C-USA Championship.

Schneider only played for the Monarchs in the spring and compiled an 18-4 record, mostly playing at position No. 3. He went 5-0 versus Conference USA opponents in singles and 4-1 against them in doubles. He was the Conference USA Athlete of the Week once this season and finished the year on a 13-match winning streak with his last loss dating back to Feb. 25. Schneider won all his three singles matches at the Conference USA Tournament in straight sets, only losing 16 games in those three matches.

Francois Musitelli: All-State Singles Second Team
Musitelli was named to the All-Conference USA Singles Second Team and All-Conference USA Doubles First Team. He tallied an overall record of 19-4, 17-3 in dual matches mainly playing at position No. 4 and went 5-0 against Conference USA opponents. He was voted Conference USA Athlete of the Week once this semester and finished the season on a 10-match winning streak, winning all three matches at the Conference USA Tournament during that stretch.

Aziz Kijametovic/Francois Musitelli: All-State Doubles Second Team
Kijametovic and Musitelli were named to the All-Conference USA Doubles First Team. The two were nationally ranked during the season. They compiled a 17-7 overall record for the season and went 10-5 in dual matches. In the fall, they won the ITA Atlantic Regionals, qualifying for the ITA Fall Nationals.
