NORFOLK, Va. -  The ODU Sailing Team prepares to head to Navy this weekend to compete in the fall Coed conference championships. Entering this fall as the No. 6 team in the Sailing World Coaches Poll, the Monarchs look to capitalize on the forecasted favorable windy conditions in Annapolis.
“We take great pride in being the fittest team in the conference and our fitness shines through in the breeze,” said Assistant Coach Tyler Colvin. “The Monarchs love sailing in windy conditions and very few teams are as fast as we are when the wind picks up.”
The team is coming off of a seventh place finish at the Women’s Conference Championships this past weekend at Cornell, as well as a 16th place finish at the Coed Showcase Finals at St Mary’s College of Maryland.
As a top 20 nationally ranked team and No. 6 in the conference, the Monarchs will compete against division rivals Georgetown, St Mary’s, Navy, George Washington University, and Hobart and William Smith Colleges.
