Men's Soccer Racks Up Six Postseason Awards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Six Old Dominion men’s soccer players were named to C-USA All-Conference teams, including two players on the First Team All-Conference in Max Wilschrey and Niko Klosterhalfen.

Wilschrey ranks amongst the top goal scorers in the nation after collecting 11 goals so far this season. Wilschrey has been named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week twice this season. He currently leads the team with 28 points. He’s earned 5 game-winning goals. The senior has made every start this season at forward.

Klosterhalfen joins Wilschrey on the first team after scoring two game winning goals this season, including two goals in a 3-2 second half comeback against Campbell and two goals against William & Mary. The German native ranks amongst the highest in the nation for total assists. Making every start in the midfield, the senior has been named to the Top Drawer National Team of the Week once.

Ryan McLaughlin lands on the C-USA Second Team All-Conference. The two-time C-USA Defensive Player of the Week has held opposing offenses to just 22 goals this season. The Ireland native made every start in defense this season and helped lead ODU to five shutouts.

Checking in on the third team is three Monarchs in Mertcan Akar, Sebastien Hauret and Daniel Corona. In goal, Akar has made 40 saves this season and collected five shutouts. Akar was named C-USA Defensive Player of the Week once this season after his performance against UAB. Hauret has collected four assists this season and made 14 appearances in the midfield. Corona is not only on the Third Team All-Conference but earned a spot on the All-Freshmen Team. The forward is fourth on the team in points after collecting three goals and two assists. Corona has made 12 appearances for the Monarchs and 11 starts.
