Minium: Watch Foreman Field Come Down in 1 Minute
By ODU Athletics
By Harry Minium
If you’re an Old Dominion football fan, and you surely are if you’re reading this, you know that Foreman Field is gone, torn down in the last two weeks of November by S.B. Ballard Construction.
I was there almost every day (including Thanksgiving) during demolition, so I got to see the demo occur in slow motion.
But three S.B. Ballard cameras are taking photos of the site every 10 minutes or so, and Stephen Ballard sent me a copy of a one-minute video of the demo, paired with a song from the ODU band. It's pretty cool, and will be especially of interest to those of you, who like me, had fond memories of the old stadium.
Pile driving for the new stadium is underway and should be complete shortly before or after Christmas. In January, Ballard's subcontractors begin pouring the foundation. Once that's done, we'll see ODU's new, $67.5 million football stadium rise out of the ground.
Here's a 3-D simulation of new stadium construction.
