Aaron Rittgers is in his first season at Old Dominion as the assistant director of sports performance.
Rittgers comes to ODU after spending the last year at Penn State as a performance enhancement consultant. He assisted with the daily implementation of the strength, speed and agility program for the Nittany Lions.
“Aaron is a great man and a great coach that is dedicated to helping our players grow on and of the field,” ODU Director of Sport Performance Dwight Galt IV said. “We are thrilled to have him join us at ODU and can’t wait to get to work.”
Prior to joining Penn State, he spent the previous four years as the head strength and condition coach at Olentangy Liberty High School in Ohio.
He worked as a strength and condition intern at Ohio State, Denison University (Ohio) and started his career at Kent State.
Rittgers was a two-year starter on the defensive line at Capital University (Ohio) football team. He graduated in 2012 with a degree in health and fitness management.
