Manilla Adds Biran and Viktorovich to Next Season's Roster

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion women’s tennis Head Coach, Dominic Manilla, announced the addition of Shahar Biran (Hod HaSharon, Israel) and Alexandra Viktorovich (Jonkoping, Sweden) to next season’s roster. This marks the first recruiting class for Manilla along with first year Associate Head Coach Yana Sokolenko.

Meet the Newest Tennis Monarchs:

Shahar Biran
-Competed for the Israeli Fed Cup Team in 2018 vs. Luxembourg.
-Career High WTA Ranking: 841.
-Reached the Semifinals of ITF Pro Circuit 15k Singles Tournaments in Stellenbosch, South Africa (November 2018) and again in Kiryat Shmona, Israel (June 2018).
-Finalist in the Masters Kahn National Tournament.
-Israeli Junior Doubles National Champion.

Biran on Attending Old Dominion University:
“I am super excited to join the ODU family! The strong tennis program and how tightly knit the team is was very important for me. I feel confident it’ll be a place where I will grow professionally and personally and hopefully help make the team better at the same time.”

Alexandra Viktorovich
-In October of 2018, made it to the singles final of ITF Pro Circuit 15k in Antalya, Turkey.
-In October of 2018, won the doubles ITF Pro Circuit 15k in Stockholm, Sweden.
-Ranked as the best 2000’s-born player in Sweden her entire junior career.
-Won 12 national titles in both singles and doubles and 10 national team titles.
-Represented the Swedish National Team at the European Championships 11 times.
-ITF Junior Career High Ranking: 169.
-Holds four ITF junior singles titles and four ITF junior doubles titles.

Viktorovich on Attending Old Dominion University:
“I look forward to practicing hard every day, as well as getting to play in a lot of tough matches. I hope to improve my level on the court, in the gym and on the mental front, in order to develop as a player and become as good as I can be. Of course, I also look forward to having a lot of fun, meeting new people and getting a great education.”
