ODU Wrestling Gives Back to Local Community
May 13, 2013
NORFOLK, Va. - Seven members of the Old Dominion University wrestling team volunteered at the 2013 Gospel Arts Festival on Friday, May 10 in Portsmouth, Va. For several hours, wrestlers assisted event organizers and artists in anyway they could and in particular with the setup of this popular event. Proceeds from the festival benefitted Edmarc's Hospice for Children.
This was the 43rd Annual Gosport Arts Festival, which has donated roughly $420,000 back to the community. This year, more than 130 artists were on-hand to silent auction their art work.
Kevin Beazley, Michael Hayes, Joe Jessen, Marcus Johnson, Alexander Richardson, Lucas Ryan and Tristan Warner all dedicated their time and energy to giving back and helping out a local community.
This was the second consecutive year that the ODU Wrestling team helped out at this event.
The mission of Edmarc Hospice for Children is to ease the trauma of a child's illness or death and to reduce the disabling effects of pediatric illness, loss and bereavement on families in the Hampton Roads Area.
