NORFOLK, VA -- The Annual Blue-Silver Intersquad was held on Sunday, October 29 for the ODU Monarch Wrestling team. Three Monarch wrestlers won by major decision, including Chris Brown's 20-4 victory over teammate Jeff Jacobs.

Christian Staylor, a transfer from Arizona State University, gave fans a look at what they can expect from the 125 pound weight class. His match was settled 9-2 over highly touted freshman recruit James Nicholson. Nicholson was named to the conference's pre-season All-Freshman Team. Staylor also put away Kyle Hutter 4-0.

Derek Coffey and Bryan Koz offered the most intriguing match of the day, a triple overtime match ending in a 5-3 victory for Koz. Both will compete for the slot at 174.

Sophomore Ryan Williams also took both of his matches. He beat Michael Martin 6-0 and took Cam Watkins 6-2. After a very successful freshman season, the Monarchs will lean on Williams in the 141 pound weight class

The team sees action in their first regular season meet on November 11, as they face off against Purdue in Indianapolis.
