Monarch Wrestling Hosts NC State Sunday at 1:00

NORFOLK, VA - Takedown Radio, a national wrestling radio network, will broadcast live from the ODU Field House starting at noon on Sunday, February 6, during ODU's dual meet against NC State, which starts at 1:00. In addition, ODU Wrestling Hall of Famer and 1992 Olympian Buddy Lee (Class of 1982) will attend the annual Alumni Match to showcase his jump roping equipment and skills before the match.
ODU is currently 8-5 in duals action this season, defeating UNC-Greensboro 20-15 Thursday night in Greensboro. NC State is 5-5. The Wolfpack lead the all-time series 1-8-1 in a series that dates back to 1959.
Takedown Radio was founded five years ago by wrestling legend Dan Gable and Scott Casber. It has grown to a national network, airing games via the Internet, with over 10,720 unique visitors per hour. Takedown Radio will broadcast from 16 specialty tournaments this season, as well as the ACC, Southern Conference and NCAA Tournaments and the World Team Trials. Buddy Lee, a 1982 graduate of Old Dominion University and 1987 inductee into the ODU Sports Hall of Fame, will showcase his jump roping skills from 12:50 to 1:00., before the match. Lee has wowed audiences around the world with his acrobatic jump rope skills and techniques and currently has his own line of high performance jump ropes and training programs that are used by Olympians across all sports. His patented jump ropes are licensed and are the official ropes of the United States Olympic Team. Buddy Lee is the author of "Jump Rope Training," published by Human Kinetics.
During his time as a Monarch, Buddy Lee was a two-time NCAA All-American, placing fourth in 1980 and seventh in 1982. He left ODU with a career record of 122-13-2, was voted male athlete of the year three times and most valuable wrestler four times. He placed sixth in the 1992 Barcelona Games in Greco-Roman.
