Monarchs Fall in First Round of Virginia Duals to Edinboro, 22-12

HAMPTON, Va. - Edinboro won 7-of-10 matches to beat Old Dominion University wrestling in the first round of the Virginia Duals on Friday.

James Nicholson started at the match at 125 for ODU with a quick first period win to give ODU a 6-0 lead.

Kyle Hutter followed with a strong 7-2 decision for the 9-0 lead.

Edinboro fought back, winning the next three matches, all close, to tie the score at nine.

Dan Rivera gave ODU its final lead of the match with a 2-1 overtime win at 165 to give ODU a 12-9 team lead.

The Fighting Scots won the final four matches, with three being decided by three points or less.

The Monarchs wrestle VMI at 1 p.m.
