The Old Dominion wrestling team lost to Drexel, 29-16, on Saturday afternoon in Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) action in Philadelphia, PA. The Dragons won eight of ten bouts to easily handle ODU.

Drexel won the first five matches to jump out to a quick 19-0 lead. In a battle of the conferences top two wrestlers at heavyweight, top-ranked Mike Carroll of Drexel got things going for the home squad with a hard-fought 2-0 win over ODU's second ranked Derrell Lorthridge (Wilmington, DE). It was Lorthridge's first loss in dual action this season

Freshmen Adam Wright (Bridgewater, VA) at 184, and Robby Gosnell (Warrenton, VA) at 157, were the only Monarchs to earn wins tonight.

ODU is now 5-7 on the year with a 2-4 CAA mark.

The Monarchs return home Sunday when they host Virginia for their annual Scholarship match at 2:00 p.m. in the ODU fieldhouse. Tickets are $5 and all proceeds benefit ODU wrestling scholarships.
