Rusak Wins 165 Title at Wilkes Open

WILKES-BARRE, PA (December 31) -- Old Dominion sophomore grappler Jeff Rusak (Reading, PA) won five bouts to earn the 165-pound title at the 1999 Wilkes Open on Thursday. Rusak improved his overall record to 19-2 on the year, while he also earned two more pins to move his season total to ten.

Rusak, who finished third at Wilkes at 157 last year, defeated Matt King, 9-2, in the finals to earn the title. He posted five victories in all, including pins over Army's Lane Chereskin (2:35) and Seton Hall's Paul Wyka (5:12).

Freshman Dennis Whitby posted three bout victories in the 149-pound division, while seniors Chip Reyes (Virginia Beach, VA) and Joel Jiminez (Norfolk, VA) earned two bout wins in the 125 and 133 pound divisions
