Nicholson, Hutter, Metzler Ready for NCAA Championships

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - James Nicholson, Kyle Hutter and Joey Metzler will compete at the 2011 NCAA Wrestling Championships starting Thursday, March 17 in Philadelphia, Pa.

Nicholson heads into his fourth NCAA tournament with a 31-0 record and earned the No. 4 seed in the 125-pound weight class. Nicholson is just five wins shy of breaking the ODU all-time wins record of 138 set by Chris Brown last season. A senior from Des Moines, Iowa, Nicholson faces Cal State Bakersfield's Tyler Iwamura in the first round.

Hutter qualified for the NCAA Championships for the third time in his career, going 30-8 during the year and corraled a No. 12 seed at the 133-pound weight class. He is ninth on the school's all-time wins list with 111. A senior from Mokena, Ill., Hutter faces Michigan's Zac Stevens in the first round.

Metzler reaches his first NCAA Championships by receiving an at-large berth at 149-pounds with a 19-16 record. He defeated three ranked wrestlers on the year and took third at the CAA Tournament. A senior from Dayton, Va., Metzler takes on No. 3 seed Kevin LeValley of Bucknell in the first round.

First round action starts at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday, March 17 at 11 a.m. will have live updates throughout the entire three-day event, starting with the first round on Thursday.
