Rusak and Kelly Join ODU Wrestling Staff

NORFOLK, VA. - Old Dominion University wrestling coach Gray Simons announced today that former Monarch wrestling standouts Jeff Rusak (Reading, PA.) and Jamie Kelly (Chesapeake, VA.) will join the coaching staff as assistant coaches.
"I am really pleased to have these two outstanding alumni return and work with our program, " said Simons. "Their knowledge, work ethic and enthusiasm for for the sport of wrestling and Old Dominion is extremely beneficial."
Rusak was a two-time CAA wrestling champion and completed his career 33-0 in the league. He was 35-2 with 19 pins as a senior in 2002 and reached the NCAA Championships as the number five seed, where he went 2-2. He also competed at the NCAA Championships in 2001. A Virginia Intercollegiate state champion, Rusak completed his career with a 135-19 record. He graduated with a degree in computer science.
Jamie Kelly completed his four year career with a 90-38 record, including a 28-8 mark as a senior in 1998. As a senior, Kelly qualified for the NCAA Championships, with a wild card selection. He won the Virginia Intercollegiate state championship at 158 pounds and took second at the CAA championships. The three-time Old Dominion Invitation champion and two-time runner-up at the Virginia State High School Wrestling Championships graduated in 1998 with a degree in history and secondary education.
Former assistant coach Joe Baranik is now the wrestling coach at Maury High School.
